- Barnes & Noble does not charge sales tax on orders being delivered to: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon.
- Magazines are not subject to sales tax.
- Member Card Fees are taxable in: Arizona, California, New Mexico and New York.
- Bibles are tax-exempt in: Florida, Massachusettes, Missouri and Texas. Credits for sales tax applied to bible orders to these states must be claimed only after the item has shipped. Customers wishing to redeem credits for shipped bible orders should email taxes@book.com

How Barnes & Noble Delivers:
Unless your order qualifies for fast & free shipping, Barnes & Noble will apply both a base shipping fee and a per item shipping charge to your order. This varies by the type of items ordered (books & VHS or DVDs and music), the type of delivery service requested and the destination of your order. Barnes & Noble orders containing a game console and software, a game or accessory will only be charged the per order charge for the console, provided that all the items are in stock. Where applicable, "Send Each Item As Available" delivers your item at additional cost, but ensures that you will receive your order more quickly (as each item becomes available). If you choose to "Send everything in as few packages as possible", your shipping charge will be lower, but Barnes & Noble will wait to ship your order until all items (including pre-orders) are available. When you choose to "send everything in as few packages as possible", your order may still arrive in more than one package. If this happens, you will not be charged additional amounts for the multiple packages. Out-of-print books, PC & Video Games, Gift Cards and Magazines always ship separately.
- Magazine Subscriptions generally take between 6 and 10 weeks for the first issue of your subscription to arrive by mail.
- Fast & Free Delivery orders containing pre-ordered items will not ship until all items are in stock. This program applies to orders shipped within the 48 contiguous United States only. To estimate the shipping time on products qualifying for fast & free delivery, add 3 business days to the item's availability time. For example, if the item is said to ship in 24 hours, expect that item to arrive in 4 business days. Items need to display a "free & fast delivery" icon in order to be eligible for this promotion. - Free Manhattan Same Day Delivery is available for orders placed before 11:00am ET, Monday through Friday. If you place a qualifying order you will get it delivered by 7:00pm the same day, free of charge. Your order must total $25 or more and be composed of products that state they deliver within 24 hours or same day delivery in Manhattan. Be sure both "Expedited delivery" and "Send Everything Together" are selected during checkout. This offer does not apply to the holidays of Good Friday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
- Domestic Extensions delivery applies to Post Office Box deliveries, APO/FPO addresses, U.S. Protectorates (Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands) and orders that should not be shipped via UPS. - Digital Products have no delivery charge and do not count towards the $25 minimum purchase amount for fast & free shipping. Online gift certificates are sent via email. An email sent by Zinio shortly after the checkout process will include a link and instructions for you to read your SparkNotes StudyGuides, Quamut Charts and magazines online or offline with downloads and PDF files.
