Retail Coupons and Grocery Coupons Online at Centsible

What is a coupon?

Whether you're using a grocery coupon or a retail coupon, coupons have certain features common to them as a group. Coupons offer greater value than you would normally get on your purchase. You get a coupon's benefits when you redeem that coupon. What value you will get from your coupon, who will honor your coupon and how you redeem your coupon are generally the factors setting different groups of coupons apart. Coupons usually fall into two groups: retail coupons and grocery coupons. Both retail coupons and grocery coupons offer greater value on your purchase than you would get if making the purchase without the coupon. Both retail coupons and grocery coupons offer the same basic types of value, although retail coupons (and some grocery delivery service coupons can also offer free delivery or free shipping as an added value): percentage discounts, specific dollar discounts and free gifts.

Types of value offered by both retail and grocery coupons:

  • A percentage off off your merchandise total
  • A specific dollar amount off your merchandise total
  • A BOGO or "Buy One, Get One Free" offer
  • A free gift with your purchase
  • Free Delivery or Free Shipping

Grocery Coupons

Grocery coupons come in several different forms. Not only are there different types of coupons (dollars or cents off a specific product, buy one, get one free or "BOGO" offers, a dollar amount off your entire purchase, a free product with no purchase required and also a free product when you buy another product or group of products), there are also different ways to redeem these coupons. In fact, the thing setting most grocery coupons apart is who will honor them and how you redeem them. Grocery coupons will always fall in to one of two categories. These are:

  • Manufacturer Coupons good at any grocer that can accept coupons (and where valid by local laws)
  • Store Specific Coupons that can only be accepted at the issuing grocery store

Another big and more recent difference among grocery coupons is how to redeem them. In the past, printable grocery coupons were the only option. Coupon clippers would sit down with a pair of scissors and clip coupons from newspapers, magazines and sales flyers. The coupon clippers would then stash these coupons in special coupon wallets, along with their cash in their main wallet, in envelopes or even in their pockets. Many refrigerators across the United States still have coupons posted to them with magnets.

In many cases now, you don't need to clip coupons anymore. Although coupon CODES that you input online are mainly applicable only to retail stores, some grocery delivery services will ONLY accept coupon codes that you input online during your checkout process. Many coupons appearing online now let you download them to your club card. Downloadable Coupons are offered by major grocers and are, as such, store-specific coupons. Find these types of coupons at grocers like Bakers, Carrs/Safeway, City Market, Dillons, Dominicks, Fry's & Fry's MarketPlace, Genuardis, Gerbes, Hilander, JayC, King Sooper, Kroger, Owen's, Pavilions, Pay Less Supermarkets, QFC, Ralphs, Randalls, Safeway, Smith's, Tom Thumb and Von's.

Retail Coupons Available at Centsible

Retail coupons provided at Centsible are useful when you've decided what you want to buy and where you want to buy it. Online coupon and promo codes can go by many different names, depending on the specific online store you are shopping at. They can be referred to as promotional codes, promo codes, coupon codes, discount codes, key codes or many other names. They're all the same thing though: a promo code is either letters, numbers or a combination of both letters and numbers that you input during the checkout process of your online shopping session to save money or get added value.

Although ocassionally you will find retail PRINTABLE coupons online for use in a retail location only, the majority of retail coupons are online codes. Sometimes the coupon or code will be activated when you click on a link: you are not always given notification of this, however. Sometimes after clicking a "coupon link" a screen will appear, telling you of the discount or extra value that you've just activated. Other times, after clicking a "coupon link" you will not receive any notification that the savings have been activated until you are going through the checkout process and see the price deduction or free gift in your online shopping cart. Most often, you will need to input the code during the online checkout process. Sometimes online coupon or promo codes are "case sensitive". "Case sensitive" means that the case you use with letters makes a difference: "15PERCENT" is not read the same as "15percent" and won't activate your savings if the site you are trying to redeem your coupon on has case-sensitive coupon codes.
